Love Starts with a Name

Love Starts with a Name

This Sunday, Pastor Alicia delivered an inspiring Word from a new series: Love Has A Name. We learn that a name gives a person worth and value. We can follow the example of Jesus by learning the names of others.

Focus Scripture: Luke 19:1-10

Zaccheus was a chief tax collector who climbed up a sycamore tree to see Jesus when He passed through Jericho. Zaccheus was known as a sinner because of his profession, and the people despised him. However, Jesus specifically called out to Zaccheus by name and sought to fellowship with him.

Loving others starts with simply knowing their name. The crowed in Jericho called Zaccheus a sinner, but Jesus lovingly called him by name. Jesus also knows our names, and the names of everyone in our lives.

Knowing a person by name allows us to get to know their story, and to pray for them specifically. In this way, God can use us to love others. Jesus took the time to know everyone and their stories; not just wealthy and famous people.

Did you accept Pastor Alicia’s challenge to get to know the name of someone and to learn about them? Please share with us in the comments.
